A new beginning

iWantFollowers had been the most successful Twitter networking application for about a month, and when the new Terms of Service came out, it all came crashing to a halt. Our team tried scripting a new system, and every time we came close to a release, we’d want to add a feature, or change a script.

Eventually, tough times came around and the project had to be put off. But for those who’ve been patiently waiting, we’re back.

IWF is retiring, but in its place comes a more competent system adroit at one thing: getting you more followers.

MeFollow - More Followers, Less Searching

So a little of two weeks ago, Twitter announced their new terms of service, and unfortunately, we’ve decided to make some more changes.

To comply with the new terms of service, a great amount of work will be done to the system. We will be enhancing our marketing model, revamping our business model, and reconstructing our service model.

What was thought to be minor downtime has turned into endless days of construction on our new release.

Along with all of the previously mentioned additions, the new update will turn the IWF system into a living community based on Twitter network expansion.

We’ve just finished debugging the new targeted following system and added a VIP preview feature.  Last is to finish up the new automated following processes. Excited?

We decided to go ahead and start a URL shortener for our members to use. Right now its open to the public but we might make it an IWF member exclusive.

What its mainly going to do is serve for future advertising of the IWF network.

In light of all the traffic we are receiving, we are switching hosts and during the migration, we might have some downtime.

If you aren’t getting as many followers as you think you should be getting, this would explain it.

To accommodate the VIPs, they have been awarded an extra 3 days of service!

Account suspensions? Lost followers?

Yesterday, the technical support for the affiliate system our site uses was making some changes to optimize the program for the high traffic we’ve been seeing recently. One of the technicians was editing one of the automatic process sequences, and mistakenly reset the wrong process cycle.

Our system sends autotweets to our free users once or twice a day. This false reset affected the autotweet cycle, changing it to run eight times a day. Twitter detected the abundance of updates and automatically identified it as spam – the result? Twitter distributed 7 day suspensions to each account sending the tweets. Approximately 1500 to 2000 accounts were suspended for seven days.

Those of you who received suspensions should not worry, they are only temporary. We are trying to contact the Twitter dev team to appeal the mass suspensions and we will have them lifted as soon as possible. The suspended accounts would explain the loss of followers – those who lost a drastic amount of followers will see them return within the next seven days.

All affected VIPs will be given a complementary 3 day VIP pass in light of the event. Once again, we apologize on behalf of that silly technician, and we hope to see you again in the future!
